For her undergraduate thesis, Roberta did a DNA barcoding analysis of frogs of the genus Leptodactylus sampled from both margins along the length of the Madeira River. Her advisers were Pedro Ivo Simoes and Izeni Farias. She was accepted into the joint INPA/UFAM Genetics, Conservation and Evolutionary Biology program, where she worked on a hybrid zone of parrots of the Brotogeris sanctithomae species complex. Currently she is a research assistant at INPA.
