Ph.D. 2009 with Izeni Farias and Tânia M. Sanaiotti

Aureo is interested in evolutionary history, distribution and conservation of top avian predators of Brazilian forests, and his work principally focuses on phylogeography and population genetics of Harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja) of Brazil. During his Ph.D. studies in the joint INPA/UFAM Genetics, Conservation and Evolutionary Biology program, Aureo's work was featured in an article published by the museum of the Rio Grande do Sul Zoobotanical Foundation and an article published by the museum of the Colegio La Salle Dores also in Rio Grande do Sul. In 2007 Aureo was also the winner of the best poster presentation in the area of Genetics, Evolution and Breeding of Animals at the annual meeting of the Brazilian Society of Genetics held in Águas de Lindóias, SP. Aureo is currently an assistant professor in the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES).
