Pedro is studying aromobatid (skunk) frogs of the genus Allobates; the aromobatids were until recently considered to be family dendrobatidae (poison dart) frogs. In particular Pedro is looking at patterns of cryptic diversification in the upper Madeira River basin, and the factors that lead to this diversification. He is using molecular, and phenotypic and ethological data. Pedro obtained his Ph.D. from the INPA Ecology program, and subsequently worked as a research associate and a postdoc at INPA. Currently he is a postdoc at PUCRS.
